From compact Classic Doubles to the top-floor Terrace Suite, every space has been individually conceived — no room numbers that are really just sizes in disguise.
When we refurbished Stoneaorbit in 2014, the brief was simple: no two rooms should be interchangeable. Each space takes its design cue from a different facet of Madrid — a Velázquez palette in one, the geometric Moorish tilework of the Real Casa de Correos in another, the warm ochre plasterwork found in Lavapiés in a third. Every room has original artwork commissioned from Madrid-based painters, blackout curtains hand-sewn by a workshop in Carabanchel, and a rainfall shower with locally made stone fittings. The furniture is a mix of restored antiques and pieces made to order by a joiner in Vallecas. None of it was purchased from a hospitality catalogue.
Our 11 Classic Doubles range from 18 to 22 m² and sit on the first and second floors. Each features a king-size bed with a hand-stitched headboard, a writing desk, an en-suite rainfall shower, Castilian cotton bathrobes, and artisan toiletries from a small producer in Córdoba. From €145/night.
Seven Superior Doubles occupy the quieter rear of the building, overlooking the jasmine courtyard. Rooms run from 24 to 28 m², with a larger seating area, espresso machine, and a private courtyard-facing terrace in four of the seven. Ideal for longer stays. From €185/night.
Three Junior Suites on the third floor offer a separate sitting room, a clawfoot bathtub alongside the rainfall shower, and a small private terrace with views over Calle de Alcalá. Each has its own curated book collection and a Bluetooth record player stocked with vinyl from a Malasaña shop. From €260/night.
The single Terrace Suite on the fourth floor is Stoneaorbit's flagship room: 55 m² with a wraparound terrace, freestanding copper bathtub, double vanity, and unobstructed views towards the Sierra de Guadarrama. Available for special occasions and extended stays. From €395/night.
Every room rate includes our full Castilian breakfast each morning, high-speed Wi-Fi, and 24-hour access to the courtyard. Airport transfers, spa treatments and in-room dining are available on request and charged separately. We do not have an on-site gym or swimming pool. We do not offer rooms for under-18s travelling without a guardian. We also work with a small number of rooms and cannot always accommodate last-minute group bookings; if you're travelling with more than four people, please reach out to us before booking to confirm availability and any group arrangements.
The Junior Suite was genuinely the most beautiful room I've stayed in anywhere in Europe. The clawfoot bathtub, the vinyl record player, the view from the terrace at 7am with a coffee — no chain hotel comes close to that combination. I'm already booked for March.
